Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, ki har khawaaish pe dam nikle…

Such are the words of the poet Mirza Ghalib. This line from his famous poem has been the cornerstone of our philosophy at Mooshak. We began with a thousand desires as the above line states and each of those desires were filled with the passion of two women, who wanted to weave those desires and their dreams in a common thread.

Mooshak was born out of passion for Indian Heritage, textiles, crafts and design.

Pride in Heritage forms the bedrock upon which we express and create our offerings. At Mooshak we believe in slow fashion, in Family and wearing our culture and heritage on our sleeve.

As this young brand grew from its fledgling stage, we explored family histories, crafts traditions, weaving communities and now incorporate all of these into our collections.

Family First is a philosophy that has been always close to our heart and all of our creations are viewed through the lens of Family. Family for us is not merely by blood, but by intent and love.

For us, heritage and tradition is alive through these families who nourish the ecosystem, ensuring the legacy is passed on to our future generations.

From our inception, we made a conscious decision to take a step forward towards sustainability with each choice we made, and we are proud to say that our fabric is ethically sourced from weavers and the products are handmade in small batches ensuring ethical and sustainable practices.

We pack our products in 'Dresser Bags' - Cotton bags which can be reused as saree or dress bags. The bags are made by The Yellow Bag foundation that supports women empowerment and their children's education.

Our polybags used for shipping are from 100% recycled material and can be further recycled.

Our fabrics range from Madurai Sungudi to Kerala Kasavu to Odisha Ikat to Karnataka Khun to Benarasi Brocades and so many more. Our cotton and indigo prints are all one of a kind to add that touch of unique to our thoughtfully curated collection.

Above all, we believe that fabrics tell a story – a story of heritage, a story of the craftsperson who made it and finally, a story that includes you and your life as you explore it. These stories are meant to be passed down to the future generations, keeping a thread of sustainability, heritage and memory alive and thriving.

And so, we urge you to explore our collections, take the time to read about each design, contemplate how the unique names of the products form that unseen link between heritage and design, and ultimately, we hope you can weave your own story into the product with your unique aesthetic. When you choose a Mooshak product, you take with you a continuous legacy and add to it with your own story and memories.

About the Founders:

Shrishti and Krithika, met almost three decades ago and became deep friends. Through all their milestones together, Heritage, Indian textiles, performing arts and Poetry were always a foundation on which they explored their friendship and journey together.

Mooshak has been a khwaaish,a desire, a dream that they saw together as childhood friends and they hope to translate those desires into design, which they bring to you as offerings at Mooshak.
