Khun is a fabric that is handwoven in cotton with a brocade border. This is an ancient woven fabric that was originally produced in Gulegudda in North Karnataka and is popular among women in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra as well. The fabric dates back to the 8th century C.E. and when woven has this unique lustrous appearance making it very popular as fabric for blouses. Khun has now been popularized and great efforts have been made to reimagine the fabric in contemporary deisgns.
